The 51-year-old was killed in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Poolesville on Friday, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.
Police say the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Feb. 21 when Solórzano Ramirez was driving a green 2000 Acura Integra eastbound on Whites Ferry Road.
For reasons still under investigation, his vehicle collided with a white 2023 Ford Transit van traveling westbound near the intersection of Partnership Road.
Solórzano Ramirez, who was on his way home from work, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
As the investigation continues, family and friends are remembering Solórzano Ramirez as a kind and generous man who touched countless lives.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of Marcos Solórzano’s passing,” family friend Gabriela Verduguez wrote on a GoFundMe campaign launched to support Ramirez’s loved ones.
“Marcos was a beloved father, spouse, and friend known for his kindness and generosity. He touched the lives of so many. His sudden passing has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled.”
The fundraiser, which had raised over $13,500 of its $16,000 goal as of Tuesday, Feb. 25, will help cover funeral expenses and to send Solórzano Ramirez home to his native El Salvador.
The GoFundMe can be found here.
"This fundraising campaign has been started in the hope of (also) covering other financial difficulties that (his wife) and her children may face," Verduguez added.
“All donations will be managed by Daniel Marinero Chavez, Zulma’s nephew, who will personally deliver the money to the family.”
